In this section, there are three activity plans based on land art for the age group of birth to 2 years. Each activity is appropriate for the given age group and the 6 to 8 years activity has assessment criteria to evaluate the process of the activity for the children.
Birth to two years
Working with the young child, the idea of land art can be used in a way to get them to see and experience the environment around them while encouraging their interests and providing a positive visual arts experience.
Equipment needed:
· Sticks, leaves, stones and dirt.
This experience would preferably done outside so the children are allowed to make as much as they would like with the materials provided.
Setting up an area outside where children can come and go as they choose with all materials set up in a way that is inviting to the children. As the children are playing with the materials, they can having the opportunity to see what nature feels like. Having the materials placed out for the children will encourage their imagination and allow them to create the art they choose to create.
Relating to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF):
This activity can be associated with outcome 2 of EYLF – Children are connected with and contribute to their world, in particularly children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment as the children are being able to connect with parts of nature but still understand that its need to be respected.
